extinguisher fitment

hi gang,

I'm thinking of fitting my fire extinguisher in my 3 >sets himself to have the piss ripped out of him but doesn't care a jot< and I'm guessing its supposed to go in the passenger foot-well? is there a correct place with holes already provided or owt? is there a way of doing it without fouling the carpet and mats? i'd appreciate any thoughts gang >that aren't about what a nob i am to fit an extinguisher in my car<

You can get brackets to mount it under the squab of the passenger seat or if you fancy being really brave stick it on the roll cage

it already has brackets on it ric, any ideas where im supposed to attach them, i cant see an obvious place.

I take it you've got the quick release straps round the extinguisher



and the adaptor bracket which bolts to the seat subframe?

its the extinguisher that was provided by porsche with the car, its bigger than the one youve pictured and it sits in a quick release bracket that is kind of m shaped (well, more like this actually: IUI ) but the bracket has no holes or mounting points of any kind.

help at all?

ok, thanks Cardo. we missed you this weekend chum, we hardly had a good time at all. honest.

for the morning crew, the extinguisher is a lifeline, is about 30cms long (guessing here) about 20 cms tall and about 20 cms across. does this sound familiar?

its pretty much the same as the one in this picture, buti cant tell if or how its been fitted, or if its just been placed in the footwell for illustrative purposes.

Lift up you NSF footwell mat. You may see two bolts or recepticles for bolts underneath. The mount fastens on to this. I'm not sure if the CSs were predrilled or not though. They were on my RS, and the mat was also drilled through! Mine is however in the cupboard at the moment. I broke my first when the pax seat shot forward when I was moving it, hitting the gauge. They are a bit of an inconvenience in the road car, but wouldn't be hard to mount for trackdays - its just I seem to keep forgetting. If you do mount it, I recommend orientating the extinguisher so that the gauge is away from the seat and pointing into the footwell. Possibly more vulnerable to clumsy feat then. They are about 180 quid from an OPC so you don't want to break one, and I couldn't find anyone in the UK who could service it.

Standard fitment, it is orientated at a rotation of 90 degress to that photo.

???? No holes in the mounting bracket???

The CS floorpan is predrilled. Extinguisher mount should come with two bolts and two spacers to take up the carpet thickness. If you have overmats that have been put in later and not specced with the car then they will need have a couple of holes cut for the bolts.

nope, no holes. didnt get a chance to look today, but ill work it out tommorow. im thinking about making a bracket and mounting on the front of the seat frame so that it can move back and forth with the seat. i figure it'll be less in the way there too.

Not sure people fit the OEM extinguishers on the seat as they are pretty big (4kg IIRC?). Maybe best off contacting brey krausse before you commit to anything. I can't believe you have no holes in your bracket though. I'd take it in and ask your OPC how to fit it, mine certainly has holes in the mounts!

its fitted, its resting on the floor but being pinned in position by the seat being pushed all the way back and using tensioners, such that i can move it forward when i move the seat forward and theres no load on anything.

Realistically I think you'll find it is far too large a diameter to be sexy, unless you plan to use a hell of a lot of lube.
