Gayenne test drive

While Cambridge OPC are servicing the tt I've borrowed a Cayenne 3.2 V6. Seems to change gear unpredictably and slowly (tiptronic), handles reasonably well for a big truck but is woefully slow.
Seems to turn in 18mpg on a trip, the family loves it though for safety and comfort, and I tend to agree. If I was a millionaire I'd get a turbo just for the feck-off-ness of it, but this model I'm afraid scores a lowly 2 out of 10 on my scale.
Although it could be worse -- they could have loaned me a boxster!
Something I've noticed though is that the great unwashed seem to have been taken by the anti-car lobby's divide and conquor strategy of villifying the "4x4 brigade". Several times when I came up behind traffic on s/c A roads, the car in front would slow down a few miles per hour as if to make a point, and I didn't try intimidating anyone. There definitely seems to be an attitude out there which I never get in the 911.

I have to disagree here,Cayenne is a totally useless vehicle whereas the Boxster imo is excellent....Tried to convince myself that the cayenne is a great family car and after numerous test drives on all specs i still dont know what it is trying to achieve..low mpg,still drives like a truck and its not big enough inside...however if you want a 2 seater sports car the boxster s is excellent..imho of course...

Have to agree there kc , I looked long and hard at the cayenne, different models etc .... Ended up with a diesel XC90 .. The war office loves it.
