Radar / Laser Detectors...any recommendations?

I have a clean licence and I want to keep it that way.

Which radar/laser detectors suit a 997? I want something small and easy to install without a lot of wires in the way.

Has anyone fitted a laser jammer(sorry garage opener) that they like?

I had a bad experience with the M1 police and really feel we should fight their technology with something similar...legal or not!

Not sure about a radar detector on it's own. The combination of a legal GPS type device and then a jammer (illegal) but good for garage doors is the only protection against laser traps. I've got an Origin B2 to remind me of fixed radar and popular 'scam'era van sites along with a jammer for gun protection.

Try this one www.ukspeedtraps.co.uk/laserpropark.htm there was another one mentioned on another thread that is supposedly even better but I can't remember the name, oh and these aren't illegal as you have a legitimate use for it. So get a basic GPS based warning device, which has a good database and a little parking aid (with extras)

Went for the origin B2 at the weekend with the laser detector fitted. Seems a nice unit, no false alarms yet and you can tweak the volume of alerst by each camera type which is nice

I'm not looking to be confrontational but I can't see the point in having the laser detector bit of any of the GPS units being fitted. What are you hoping to gain from it? The chances of the Origin laser detector actually saving you from getting nicked is very small indeed. Laser guns get a reading between 0.3 and 2 secs. There is no way you can slow yourself in that time. I got caught twice a couple of years ago (hand held guns from a copper sitting in a roadside car) my unit went off but I had no cahnce of slowing quickly enough. Thats why i got myself a garage opener Ithink the unit I have is a lidatek.

Found it at last!! It's the Defender2 from Drive Smart. Here's the link to the chart www.laser-jammer.co.uk/ If you look it also shows the pro park gadget I was referring too which seams to be the best of the rest, although I would like to see an independent review of the Defender2 like the site in my link the earlier post. The Defender2 is WAY cheaper too so if it gets top marks from independent reviews then that's the one to go for!! The Drive Smart site is www.drive-smart.co.uk/products.html

Oops, i've just looked a little closer and it isn't cheaper, i was looking at their GPS unit price, the Defender2 with two sensors is £599 and with one sensor it's £389, i'd still happily give £600 to not get nicked doing 170mph down the M4 at 3am ......
