First Porsche - what a feeling!
Discussion
Just thought that I'd introduced myself...
I've always wanted a Porsche so went to test drive a '97 2.5 this morning, somehow managed to walk out with a '03 2.7...Wife's fault!
Not sure how it happened but am well chuffed, only proplem is that I can't collect it until April!!
The wait is going to be murder!
Have been lurking for a while but will hopefully be a bit more active now!

I had to wait about 4 months for my new Boxster S. Ive never waited that long for anything before! It was well worth the wait. Now had the car for 3 months and absolutely love it. My previous cars have included 2 TVR Chimaeras and a Cerbera 4.5 and I can honestly say that the Boxster S is the best (IMHO) car I've ever owned. I'm now looking forward to the start of the track day season - hopefully the Boxster S won't disappoint when I take it around Bedford Autodrome.
Thanks for the welcome peeps..
It's a showroom car so am not speccing it myself, it was pretty near what I wanted minus a few options but Porsche won't let them sell it before they've had it in the showroom for a certain period.
It's Artic Silver with Black Leather, Boxster S II Alloys, Bose sound system, Climate, Computer, and it's the 2003 model with the clear lights and glass heated rear screen. Screen was quite important to me as it's going to live outside!
One day down only 8 weeks to go!

welcome!!!!
The colour combo is excellent, I've got the same.
I know of the 3 month rule, but I have a tip for you - there must be a way round it ...
My car was a demonstrator, registered 8.1.2002. I got the car 15.3.2002 - get it?!?
I don't know how my Porsche dealer did it, but if he can ...
You haven't got this from me, but obviously, if handled discreetly, you should be able to get your car earlier.
Good luck!!!
Rgds, WalterU
Will find out tomorrow when exactly we can pick it up...The dealer mentioned that he try and get it as soon as possible, so fingers crossed! Thanks for the tip tho'
Loved the colour combo as soon as I saw it in the showroom. Just been ringing round for the dreaded insurance quotes, pleasantly surprised for once
Daz, Only other sportscar I've had was a Westfield SEiW with a nicelt tuned x-flow (140 bhp).
Cheers and still smiling from ear to ear!

Fantastic, mate.
Enjoy your car. I returned to Porsche ownership after a gap of about fifteen years a couple of years ago. I'm on to my second of recent times.
They are just wonderful. I hope you get as much enjoyment out of yours as I have out of mine.
That's "Boxster Boys" (and girls) meet is getting to be more a priority all the time....!

Worzel, who pleasantly surprised you with the insurance quote (I'm going through a bit of a nightmare at the moment trying to sort my forthcomming S2000).
Any help greatly appreciated, especially those that seriously consider a previous life of company cardome
.
I'm not appreciating too much pain, just a lot of work to get ot a decent quote. I'd like to make sure that I include a company on the list that has just given a good quote to a similar car (sorry Porsche guys, read group 20, soft top and the correct side of 200 bhp)

Don't know if you've tried Hastings Direct but they gave me a £900.00 odd quote for my 2 year old 2.7 Boxster (and i'm under the magic 30 year old mark when the insurance company believes you become a wonderful driver overnight).
I'm on my first Porsche too - fantastic car!
Husband is suitably impressed also - he went out for a pint of milk on Saturday and came home with a 1985 944 as a 'Project'!

Have a look at Admiral, think they must have reduced their premiums recently. I'm 32 and paid £1050 for Fully Comp (max NCD +protection) on my £46k Boxster 'S' in April '02 which was the best I could find at that time, through Performance Marques. Have just obtained an online quote from Admiral and their quote is now only £683!!!
Admiral wanted £1720 and I couldn't get a quote from Hastings Direct as I have a fault accident from 2000 and the wife has an SP60.
Pretty happy with the £1240 quote from Liverpool Victoria at the moment. Seems quite good as we're both 26.
Just waiting for the phonecall with the pick-up date!
Thanks for the help,
Jon

I'd suggest you get a quote from Tesco - I had a car stolen, used in a crime and burnt out so when I came south the insurance quotes were sky high (topped by 3 of the usual suspects that wanted £9k) - Tesco came in at around £1k - others on the board have previously reported equally competitive quotes
Definately worth it!
First impressions: Have covered just over 600 miles over the last few days and it has proved to be much better than I could have expected. The ride and handling response over some twisty A roads around the Brecon Beacons was superb. Sticking to 4500/5000 rpm until run it so it feels as if it's really starting to go when I have to change up......
Overall, well impressed with both the car and the service from the dealer.
Will post some photos over the next few days, needs a bit of a clean after the weekend!
Cheers
