996 Facelift Front End????

Hi All

Is the 996 facelift front end just a different bumper and headlights? or did they change the shape of the panels as well? Is it as simple as bolting on a new bumper and slotting in new headlights?

You need the front wings too

Fella,
I had my 996 done at the Porsche approved, Premier Bodyshops (Luton)following a shunt;

Bumper,
Wings,
Lights,
Inner wings,
Inner airflow guides,
and a new washer system (if required)
Plus other various 'bits & bobs'.

Not cheap, and all the advice was it would have a negative effect on re-sale.
However;

a. It looks fantastic.
b. No longer looks like a boxter 'in drag'.
c. And if it's done with genuine parts, re=-sale issues should be mitigated.

except it ensures that the new purchaser knows its been in a heavy front end shunt !!
(a good thing then on all accounts except it must hurt resale value)

Mmm,

Not quite correct Gibbo:

4-5Mph hardly a h'heavy front end shunt!

However;

I photographed the damage, realising that it is the most efficient method of countering any scepticical view of a verbal description, should I come to sell (although as I am not planning to sell in the next 3-5 years it probably won't be an issue).

I also ensured a perfect colour match by paying extra for the entire car (including hardtop), rather than just the new panels, to be re-painted.

In my view it was a case of taking advantage of an unfortunate incident, not to create 'a silk purse from a cow's ear', but rather, 'guild the Lilly'.
