Recharging aircon on 996TT

The air con does not seem very cold so I am assuming it needs a recharge (car has only doen 11k and is 3.5 years old). Does it need to be done by a specialist or can it be done by anyone who with a decent recharging setup?

Just had my cars done by Bourne Performance in sittingbourne, kent. Use a super machine that emptys the system, cleans it and then tops it all back up and test it automatically. £70+vat

I suppose you do run it reguarily? think most manufactures recommend at least monthly.

My Granada was 10 years old, 186,000 when I sold it, air con worked 100%, used to have it on for a good hour a month, throughout the year, even with the blue nose in winter.

Just a thought.
