996 Targa?

Always loved the look of the Coupé but cant get away from the love of that wind in the hair sensation.... Anyone have good / bad to say about a targa?

Try one - your hair doesn't get as windy as you'd think, may or may not be enough for you.

certainly not as open as the old pop roof targa's and nothing like the cab experience, more like a big sun roof. Looks nice though and nice to have that big glass roof above gives a very pleasant feel. limited rear visability when the roof is open tho.

Always had problems as glass very heavy and motors/roof cassette gets weak and struggles to close very expensive job to repair....go the whole deal get a coupe if youre a driver or a cab if youre a poser dont buy a greenhouse.

I'm a great fan of the 996 design, but I think it would have to be one

or the other. The coupe has great lines, and the vert has that great flat

back from the windscreen, but the Targa seems to miss both, imho.

Its very much like the F355, the spyder and the Berlinetta are truly amazing,

but the GTS seems to have none of the advantages and all of the weaknesses.

I know the verts are slower and heavier, but who really drives at 9/10's?

Personally i love it, and actually prefer the lines of the targa. Really like the point rear window instead of that curve

I have the roof back most of the time, only put it up if going more than about 70 or so, as it does get a bit much beyond that. Windows down and roof back gices an open top feeling with the security of a solid roof.

As someone else said, the glass roof also makes it feel so much more airy and less claustrophobic, plus it gives us taller people a couple more inches headroom

Also one less bit of the car for bird shit to ruin

All in, I love it. It may be slower than a coupe, but i dont think you will really notice it, just means the coupe will get pulled over a few tenths of a second sooner than you

I had a 996 targa for 2 years - loved it. Very nice, loved the glass roof.
