Ferries etc.

I'm planning a trip to France/Germany/Spain in my GT3 Mk.1 in the not too distant future.
Anyone with the same model done so recently, and if so ,did you use a ferry or the chunnel ?
Having travelled from Plymouth to Santander several times, I'm quite certain that I could not access the ferry in the GT3 due to its low ride height.
Any advice welcome.

Be surprised if you had a mjor problem, it was absolutely fine in the F348. The ferry loaders usually have bits of wood to shallow the angle off a bit, give them a ring and check.

That was the Santander ferry by the way.

I did this last week (Rosyth to Zeebrugge ferry) - you'll find the splitter on the Mk1 remarkably tough, but you might want to take a bag of extra fixings just in case.

As said above, generally they have planks of wood available for low cars and where possible drive on at an angle. Ask the ferry company when booking if having a low car will be a problem - they'll assure you its not.

Also ask to get put on the cargo deck, which generally is a straight on/off and you car won't be packed in as tight.

ah, that's right. Now you mention it I got put on with the lorries and the caravans! Makes sense now... God I wish i was doing that trip again!

I was on Speedferries to/from Boulogne last week. The Mk1 will not clear the entry ramp head on, but it will (just) if you take it at an angle and turn the wheel hard lock as you drive up...
