hello to all newbie here before i start just like to say how much i ve enjoyed reading everyone comments on here everything concerning porsche you all seem to know alot.I have recently bought a 996 tt tip on an 03 absolutely unbelievable ground covering machine soooo quick it makes me lol however i sometimes catch myself yearning for a manual stick am i being crazy as i do live in traffic filled london,have i made the right choice?Any psychologists would be grately appreciated,thank you for your time.
Living in London myself and having driven a TT in both manual and tip I'd say you made a terrible mistake. See the "to tip or not to tip" for a good discussion on the pros and cons
Why oh why do people buy a tip w/o trying a manual as well - its such a fundamental part of the purchase decision IMHO.

I live in SW London (Zone2) and have 996TT in Tip and I rate it in Town and on the open road – should I be lucky enough to find one. It is the total package of a car that counts – why don’t people get that point ? Obviously there are pros and cons, one shortcoming of Tip’ is controllability. To me it is a tiny issue, some others think differently. The fact that the latest technology in the 997TT makes it faster 0-60 than the manual equivalent is lost on them however – never underestimate the power of denial :-) That’s just straight line, but I bet Tip’ will prove faster around the ring than a manual too, so the controllability argument is soon to be crushed.

thought you would Cyrus! Denial? I'm not the one who bought a tip and can't face the errors of his ways

Anyway that's two polar opinions for you - I stand by my primary comment "why buy a tip when you haven't driven both and decided its for you?"
