For the 996 variants, that's a fair answer.

For the 997 variants, it would have to be the GT3.

Turbo as the only car. For tracking mainly - GT3 mk2.

The real world performance of the 996tt is in a different league. The 996 GT3 is fun on the track but not usable everyday. Sounds like they have addressed this in the 997 GT3 with dual suspension settings, but the performance gap between the turbo and the GT3 remains considerable. Maybe look for a 996tt with the optional lower/stiffer suspension, better suited for the track and still more comfortable on the road that the GT3.

There are a lot of us who love to drive our GT3s every day and would be bored with a Turbo. It really depends on how you like your power delivery and feedback. Do a search as this has been done to death.

The turbo's ingear times are much more impressive than the GT3, that's very important on the road.
