I am not surprised he said no. If it is a good one then £65 to £67.5 is probably about right. I would expect him to be bid £60 from an OPC for a trade in on a new GT3.

I think I would have been sorely tempted to tell you to go away and take your box of tissues with you....

As an afterthought are they the most expensive 4500 miles in Pork history???

Someone here recently paid about £64.5k for one from an OPC, can't recall the mileage of it though but not high. For a private sale nowadays, much more than £60k seems optimistic. Don't expect it has much further to drop though. Good value.

so some of you think it was a low offer, others not. the owner told me he was not buying a new gt3 or rs, so no better offer against a new car. a dealer told me he would pay £57500 for this car, so i offered £5500 more thinking this was a fair offer. still will carry on looking in a month or so when back from holiday. will also try to sell my cayman then.

Hard to say really. There aren't huge numbers about so prices vary a lot. I think he may have been a bit optimstic at 69, but 63 is probably on the low side. There is one for sale at 63.5k in the classifieds because the seller needs a quick sale.

Wait a few months til the 997 GT3RS comes out, the 996RS prices will drop through the floor. Bargains will be there to be had.

Will be interesting. Most of the 996RS owners that I know are not changing to the new car as they are very happy with the 996 and know that it has a lot of tuning/development potential. The 997RS will be a good car but not 30k better than a 996RS. I still say that the smart money is better spent on a 996RS, fitting JRZ or KW suspension, floating discs and a ecu upgrade. 70K All in.

I'd be keen to know what Porsche needed to homologate on the 997RS. It has been launched very close to the 996RS.

If you are buying a 996RS it is important that you know the car's history. Quite a few that I know of have been pranged, 3 major accidents in the last few weeks. There are only a few availiable at one time so make sure you buy a good one. It's worth paying a little over the odds for a good car

Just to add that I know of someone that was recently offered £55k from a dealer on his RS. Im pretty sure he said car had £8k miles on it.

Any car is only worth what someone is prepared to pay for it....

i guess dealer bid would be high 50's, he's offering 10 over, you bid in the middle. sounds fair to me. i think the buyer runs more of a risk than the seller in a private sale.

If the seller is asking 69k it doesn't seem fair to offer 63k.

Still toying with the idea of selling. Mine has done 16k, just had new tyres and new clutch, and is under extended warranty until March 07.

What would I stick it up for, about 65k?

Im guessing he should still get £63k to £65k.

BTW - Dealers are offering £55k in part ex for these cars and some people are obviously taking them up on their offers so I don't think your offer of £63k was unreasonable. If you don't ask, you don't get however I may have been inclined to suggest this before going to see it.

is the 55K p/x the standard OPC offer? seems very thin to me even allowing for their margin/cost of prep/warranty etc - likely to be advertised for 65 plus
