As most will know, a 993 fitted with a PA1000 immob/alarm doesn't allow the key fob to operate unless you're within about 10 feet of the car. I read in a couple of places that putting the keyfob under your chin gives you much more range. What a load of rubbish I thought until yesterday I gave it a go. It actually works! gives me a range of about 60 feet. Tried it several times and proved it with acolleague of mine who initially thought I was mad

This works with any remote. It doesn't have to be your chin, either. Touch your ear, forehead, whatever. It'll increase the range. You become the transmitting antenna - a bit bigger than the one in the fob.

Surely it's not the fact that it's touching your chin etc., it's the fact that it's higher off the ground and the the receiver has a better chance of picking up the signal.

With the keyfob in your hand at pocket level, the receiver could be obscured by bodywork roll bars etc.

Try holding you keys above your head, aka Peter Crouch chin level!

nope, tried the key fob at different levels and it made no difference. It only worked when in contact with my body

Charles has it in one .. You're using your cranium for an antenna , increasing the signal as a result , just like extending an aerial in a last century car!!

The question is , do you REALLY want to be using your head for this purpose??? ... Your brain is already half fried as it is from your mobile phone ....
