And goodbye to the world of my TVR Tuscan!! Oh the tears on the day I handed over the keys to my Tuscan to the garage I sold it to. Such a shame.......but then I smiled when I walked in to the show room of Porsche Guilford and was walkled round my brand spanking new Caymen S. Gingerly I drove it out of the garage and I have never smiled so much! The handling, the noise, the build quality....the handling!! This is what driving is about and I dont care what people say - TVR is great but only if you live on the edge of a knife with the sole purpose of testing if you can stay on the edge and not slip slightly and land legs "akimbo". Porsche is for driving and smiling and quality and safety. TVR is to scare yourself witless (but still good fun!!).

Hello my fellow Porsche lovers.......this is my first and it wont be my last!!

LOL, welcome... hope the tears weren't because of the depreciation selling back to a dealer you bought from!

Welcome !

(PS - you may want to spell your car correctly - it's a Cayman S - not a Caymen !!)

:-)

Welcome DJ to the wounderfull world of Cayman S ownership - good choice - they are a truly epic car to own and drive - I've caught your posts in the past during you TVR ownership - i almost bought one just before the cayman but worries about the company's future put me off.

Hopefully will see you at one of the porsche meets.

ENJOY !

Cayman S, nice car. All the nicer now the launch period hysteria and "parking with the wing deployed, hey everyone look at the latest model - it's mine" nonesense has passed and the real enthusiasts have got their hands on them!

I nearly got a facelift 986 last time round, by a close friend of mine did instead and saved me the trouble. So I went with a Z4 and saved the Porsche for a future purchase.

You'll find that there is one key problem with Porsche; you'll spend the rest of your life saying things like "Who wants a Ferrari", and people will just think it's jealousy!

Hey STG - good to hear from you! Yep seen your fine looking car in the garage. Personally think we bring a little bit of class to the car park but I have seen 2 Caterhams under cover in there now....wouldnt mind a sneeky look and go in them!!

Yep the TVR had to go due to my other half telling me she wont drive it and that I had to get a family car. So I did. 2 people in my family (me and her), therefore 2 seats = CAYMAN S.

Say hi next time we bump into each other.

Mine now wins in the "Create inordinate amounts of noise on engine startup in an underground carpark" now that the TVR is gone..

Am thinking of getting a used 996 turbo (3 yrs old approx) .Can anyone advise me what to look out for as have very little experience of the porsche marque. Seen what seems to be a nice one 04/5 plate, 14000 on the clock (apparently owned by Retief Goosen before(golfer) and 3 other owners in almost 3 years. Salesman said this often the case with porsche owners as they get bored easily and move on(because they are rich enough to, his words not mine). Anyway I'm not rich so is this true of your experience.
Cheers and will appreciate any tips
