looked at a " 450bhp engine upgraded 993tt today " at maranello, whats does this mean, is it same as 993tt S , with different turbos?
i had a 430 one before, can you tell the difference between the standard 408? could you order it from factory the 450?
cheers , any links , experiences welcome

From memory the 430 is an oil cooler and different ecu map, basically 0.7 bar at 6000rpm instead of 0.6
The 450 kit has the oil cooler, ecu and larger turbos. Larger turbos will make it more laggy.

The 450 kit (should you want it) costs £3500 from carnewal. Any tuner can far exceed porsches power outputs with less lag.
I've read on Rennlist reports from people who've upgraded to the 450 kit and NOT been impressed at all.
I've just stuck (thanks to VS) an RS tuning stage 1 kit (455bhp) which is basically an ECU, cats and oil cooler and the car is transformed and would blow a factory 450's doors off (apparently).
Lots on here have gone much further. I believe MOD500 had a 450 kit fitted.

The 450PS/585NM kit was available as a factory option toward the end of '97 and in '98. If this car has a factory fiitted kit it will have an engine type M64/60RS (compared to stock engine typw M64/60)- this option cost 29800DM (approx £10K) in Germany.

It is identical engine as the Euro Turbo S, but Turbo S would have engine type M64/60S.

These are the two factory engine upgrades that could be added, either at build or once the car was on the road:

I think the 430 kit installed at build should mean an X50 code on the under-bonnet sticker whereas the 450 cars should have an X51 on the sticker (also found in the service book).

Had a 430 ecu fitted to mine, it seemed to imbue the car with more fervour for the last 1, 000 revs or so before the red line.

A search of the 993 TT section on Rennlist should produce a wealth of information
