Just come back from an extended test drive of the Cayman prototype at ruf.

This car has a 3,4L Supercharged engine. It boasts 400bhp+. Although i havent driven a stock Cayman I ahve heard that the chassis is far too good for the engine, now i can safely say that 400bhp+ feels right. I think this engine turns quite an uninspiring car performance wise to quite a bruiser.

The power delivery was good below 5k, and then ballistic towards redline. Let there be no doubt this car is very fast. There was just instantaneous response from the supercharger, and it was quite happy to pootle round town <2500rpm. Really well rounded.

The ruf exhaust on the car was superb, great sound.

If there is anyone umming and ahhhing over getting the upgrade i can wholeheartedly say you should do it...fantastic, am still smiling.

all the best

Think it works out cheaper to buy the new GT3, when you add the Cayman's price in as well

Yes but you don't buy a Ruf because you wanted a Porsche. You buy a Ruf because you wanted a Ruf. "The car Porsche wouldn't build".

If you have to ask...

I'd guess the price for the conversion is similar to their 996 Supercharger, in which case circa £15k fitted or less. Add a new Cayman at £43k base and it's still under £60k. Of course if you go silly with the Cayman options it'll be more, or if you want a RUF VIN car..........

They were quoting Euros 30,000 for their forthcoming 3.8 conv. for Cayman/BoxsterS which I reckon would be a better bet than supercharger route.
