they were 62,950 and are now 66k ish, but have a genuine 2 year waiting list at every dealer.
the ones i have seen are above list at dealers and specialists
it is the one to have, but its big bucks to finance.
its a definate sunday time jobbie, delers will take the piss and offer 55k but i think it could go for 58-60k whether privately or to somebody like tom hartley.

Prices are still good for this model...Assuming the car is all you say it is i will pay £58k for it today,as I know I can turn it for a bit of fun.
I am sure the opc will be keen as they can get someone waiting 2 years in a car now & it seems quite a few 4S owners go on to a turbo as the 4S is a bit heavy with the standard Carrera lump.

Folks,
Cheers for that, he bought in new in Aug 02, but having spoken with him today, he says he thinks he can get 68K+ for it!
After I climbed back onto my chair, I thought I'd see what you all think?

A tricky one....if the thing is £68k new...I think it would still be worth about £60 odd in 12mths...Ok that is a hefty £8k hit...but what you tend to get is
1; more cars about
2; older 996 turbo will probably be only £10k more
3; it is still a lot of money,,,with new Porkers you tend to get buyers spending a lot, spend a bit more to get a new one..
4; risk is not that well weighted on the basis of city jobs / bonusses, stock market, housing etc...by this I mean the old days of getting your money back after a year are not looking so likely.
I have a 996 C2,before I picked it up,a friend & myself were thinking of buying C4s to arrive last Oct...these were coming in at just under £60k with all extras...ok euro currency was weaker at the time, but these cars are around

You guys know your stuff, I think clubsport is spot on with his depreciation of a C4S. Although demand has been outstripping supply (hence overlist pricing) it has now caught up & prices are turning more realistic, you can always tell when the premium cars start appearing regularly at OPCs as they need to build their margins into the car & aren't allowed to sell for more than list !! I don't think this guy will get 68k for his C4S in the current market.
Those that got their full retail back when part exchanging , got a great deal. My local dealer offered me 9k less than list on an 11 month old (7k miles) car against a new Turbo.Because of this I decided to go private & purchased a 6 month old UK car (with 5k on the clock) with a great spec for 12k less than it would cost new.

To update you all, the chap has now secured a sale for exactly 68K to a lady that didn't want to wait for a new one. The OPC offered him 61K!
The Boy did good ,,, thats a sweet deal for him , i am however a little supprised but i guess like most things its just finding the right Punter
Sure, he used our company intranet and a person re-locating from Frankfurt to London repsonded.

Could you tell us which advertising medium your friend used please?
So, let's cut to the maths.
Dealer sells Turbo with full margin -- 10% ?
Dealer takes part-ex car at cost -£9k and sells at retail cost because there's a two year witing list.
No warranty costs --- because the new warranty is still in place, though he might have to pay for a first year service.
That's £15k + out of one punter and two sales.
What do you reckon ???
Would it be permissible to compare deals on the web ?
