Airbag Warning Light and Gap in closed top

I have a newly acquired 97 boxster in good shape that I'm slowing working over. However, I've enountered two problems what I'm looking to remedy.

1) I had removed part of the dash and the passenger seat to install some custom radio parts, and of course now the airbag light is stuck on. Any remedies short of taking it to a dealer (for which i have no warranty of course).

2) I've noticed a small (about 1/16th to an 1/8th inch) gap behind the driver window when I close the convertible top. It looks like the mechanics isnt pullnig the fabric foward far enough (or it is snagged slightly on something). Again, a fix on this other than taking it into the shop?
