Silverstone Trackday
Discussion
Had a great day this week at Silverstone on the PCGB trackday. My first visit there and enjoyed it thoroughly. Was a little daunting at times with plenty of faster cars filling up my rear view mirror but at quieter times of the day it was an excellent place to be.
I couldn't believe the amount of what seemed like golf ball sized bits of rubber attacking my car as the day wore on pinging it left, right, centre and over the top as I followed other cars around. There are still pieces of discarded rubber welded to the tread of my tyres - do they wear off eventually?
Were any other PHer's there enjoying themselves?
And also, my thanks to Johnnywishbone of Specialist Cars for organising another great outing, having a fantastic evening the night before staying in a rather nice hotel with friends old and new. A top couple of days out!!!

I was there as well and had a fantastic day in my 996TT. Agree it was a bit daunting at times as i have only done a couple of track days. Spent most of yesterday getting rid of the rubber marks all over the car - oh and filling up the antifreeze and cleaning out the holes in the brake discs!

Yup - I was there
Pleased you enjoyed it,
Hot wasn't it!!

Yeah, was fantastic weather for it and made for high temps behind the wheel for those of us with no air! Your car looks really well with the wheels you have on and remember seeing you fly past me on numerous occasions.
I’m going to the evening track day at Silverstone on the 19th July. Can't wait. Any top tips / gotcha’s I should be worrying about?
I've also booked myself / my car in for the ultimate performance upgrade when I’m there - some track coaching. Figure that will be better money spent then any other hardware upgrade...
BTW - I checked out some track day insurance thinking it would be a good idea just in case something bad happened. Once they told me the maximum they'd cover is £30k, had a £4500 excess and wanted £270 for 2.5 hours on a track I decided against it!

Change your road policy for something trackday friendly. Much more economic.
