Apart from having the turbo body, slightly wider at the back, is there any other diffrence?

996 or 997?

The 996 has the turbo's body sans wing, and also it's brakes (Big Red). No doubt there are some minor interior trim differences too.

I have a 4S (remember me chaps ? - its cabriolet AND tiptronic !!) and IMHO its mostly all about looks. I STILL think its the best looking 996 around.

I have to say, I really like the retro red strip between the rear lights. Pitty they didn't carry it forward to the 997. But I'm not wild about that black plastic extension below the front bumper (on both the C4S and turbo), looks a bit aftermarket and like it would fall off.

Apparently the C4S is better on the track due to the wider track and better brakes, but I seriously doubt many were bought for that purpose. More for the wide body and oneupmanship. And why not?

Well I did feel a bit like an errant schoolboy up in front of the headmaster at one point ! Thereafter felt it to be safer to lurk quietly until I had something (moderately) interesting to add to the forum ! Thanks anyway Ballcock.

The C4S has Turbo brakes and suspension.

Leather interior as standard.

And yes the best looking 996, but i am biased ;-)

Come on, surely the narrow body cars are the best looking (as are their drivers).

Hi Hussar, welcome back, thought we were just a one night stand.

Not really a problem - my village is PACKED with them, and apparently I'm the crown prince of them all (It still goes back to the cab/tip thing doesn't it ?!!!!)

Never Magic, it's just that after that "special" evening together i felt so ummm, well..............used, and then discarded (bit like an un-wanted narrow bodied 996 really).

The c4s is the best looking of the n/a 996's, but I think they're silly money ... Add a few pence and you're in TT territory...

Ballcock, you live in a village - you know that rumours start just by breathing out of turn !! Yes yes OK, I wont tell your "wife" if you don't mention I'm back on here to Raymonde - hes insanely jealous for a hairdresser.

Not too long till the Mods get me again is it ?!!!!!

Thats what I thought, then i looked, these are only OPC prices, so all can be droped by say £5k,
Cheapest C4 2002 was £45k
Cheapest C4S 2002 was £47k
Cheapest TT 2000 was £55k
Sorry no GT's, to hard core for me.

So C4S's are knocking on the door of £40k, it's sad that I have only had my 996 for 6 months and am thinking of my next car, but is it coincidence that I have 30 payments left & I am 40 in yes you guessed it 30 months.... Stuff the party I am getting a C4S.

Good man Jonny!! .. I'm a bit itchy for a newer car too ... Unfortunately finances (and two kids) dictate that that's not going to happen ...

I was thinking longer term , of a c4s , but if I wait an extra year , i'd be in 997s woods ... That's the plan anyway......
