Cayman's rattling boot
Discussion
Hope this will be of help.
My Cayman's boot rattled after about a week.
It went in & came back having the bump stops adjusted - still rattled.
Went in and came back again - rattled less, but still rattled.
Explained to OPC that even though it was a small rattle, my expectation of a £50k brand new car was that it shouldn't rattle at all. They agreed but were having problems understanding why it did. They had some other customers with the same complaint and would look into it further.
Next day, I received a phone call - Porsche have issued a bulletin advising of modified bump stops. I had these fitted - no more rattles and a happy Pikey

Oh I could follow it up with a failed clutch, sticking throttle, windows that come down on their own, spring that fell out of the filler cap, difficulty selecting gears when hot, rear wiper not working, remote boot opening not working and cold starting problems... they all have happy endings too
Actually the jury's still out on the cold starting one - not had too much opportunity to test it recently!!

Yeap! I experienced this on a 400 mile old car that I had for a week.
I'm sorry but all this hot/cold weather testing, with engineers resting on the parcel shelf listening to minor squeaks and rattles. Is it a waste of time or what? You would have thought they'd have got this right at least? No?

If I'd spent 50K on a car, I'd be more worried about the "failed clutch, sticking throttle, windows that come down on their own ... difficulty selecting gears when hot, rear wiper not working", to be honest.

Why? It's a new model and I was accepting there were going to be teething problems. The dealer dealt with the problems well and to my satisfaction. The car is absolutely superb and I love it to bits - including thinking it represents value for money.
One has to be a realist - just because it's a high price doesn't mean it'll be perfect. Ask a Ferrari owner
. You can get problems with buying any car, but buying new means none of it is your problem. Actually at a similar time we bought a brand new Toyota Yaris at a 5th of the price but hasn't had a single niggle. anniesdad said:

Oh I don't know, I wouldn't have expected a new Porsche to squeak at all, but with PASM on sports mode any rattles are immediately obvious.
