I need four new tyres for the 993TT. It currently has Pirelli Asymetricos and I wondered what the difference is between these and Rossos and the others?

I would have liked the Bridgestones but am unable to locate the so-2

Any ideas?

The difference is like night and day on my RS. Although I'm happier with the Rossos, they're softer so can't see them lasting much more than 5k.

Will be trying either Michelin Sports (an unknown tyre to me) or going back to Bridgestone SO-2s (best tyre I've ever used) after the Rossos.

Where can you get the SO-2's? I've heard the SO-2A's aren't up to much?

ETA - justed noted they've only got them in RS (265) flavour and not TT (285)

BTW, if anyone wants a 993/996/gt2 3 spoke steering wheel (in black) with a brand new airbag it's yours for just £350.

Right, back to tyres....

Went from SO2's to 2A's in the Boxster... Really didn't like the A's.

N4 Rossos are lousy imho. Carcass and sidewalls are too soft, and the movement makes the car unstable. Tread pattern and overall tyre design is optimised for comfort. Rossos melt on track and regularly "go off" after a couple of laps.

N3 System Assimetricos (sadly just gone out of production) were one of the best tyres Pirelli produced with a design focus on performance. Treadwear is lower, softer and grippier compound (140utqg vs 220 for the Rossos), but much stiffer carcass and sidewalls than the N4 Rosso. Stiff carcass/sidewalls = good stability on circuit. An excellent tyre for use on road, and it can hold up reasonably well on track as well.

S02s are good - especially in the wet.

I'm going back to the Bridgestones. The P zeros are so noisy when half worn that it sounds like I've got a couple of oil drums for wheels.
