I'm thinking of getting an in-car kit fitted to my Boxster S. AFN in Reading have suggested using Autosound. Porsche provide a replacement leather panel with a fitting for the kit. Autosound then wire it up. Total cost c. £425 = £150 (panel) + £225 (fitting) + £50 (if I want the sound to come out of the main speakers). They could do it for c. £255 if I did without the special panel and used the speaker that comes with the in-car kit.

Has anyone had this done on their car? If so, are you pleased with the results? Any views on whether the above "extras" are worth it. The way I see it, I've spent a lot of money on the car and I don't want to spoil it by scrimping on this.

Cheers for any comments.

I have the Nokia car kit fitted to both my cars (not Porsche)both have the been wired into the cars computer, switches off radio and then a sign comes up on the display showing phone. This I should point out is on a 3 series BMW and Saab 9-5 Aero, cost £70.00 plus vat each. your quote sounds at tad expensive.

For that sort of money I'd be looking at getting a blue tooth phone and car kit. No holes in dash and no getting "shafted" on speciality bits.

PS - As a note I got my father a nokia 6310i blue tooth phone for about £30 on a contract last week. A mate of mine has a bluetooth car kit which he had installed for about £200.

Toying with the idea of putting one of these in my 03 Boxster (Arrives in 5 Weeks). It will have BOSE fitted.

Does anyne have one fitted to a 03 with BOSE, and the sounds coming from the factory speakers? I have been told it can't be done, because of the MOST system. Is this correct?

I agree with dazren, check out the bluetooth car lits at www.blueunplugged.com which offers a selection from each manufacturer. The bt ones go through the stereo speakers as standard!

My mate uses on of the above and rates it VERY highly - I think it is the only Blutooth kit that can dial to your phone, as most of the others need you to either voice activate the phone yourself or press the bittons - The Parrot one has voice activation but then dials via Bluetooth.
Never used one but will certainly get one in my next car.

rewster,
I've got the Porsche 'phone in my '03 Turbo that also has Bose, and the sound comes out of a separate speaker.
However, if it's the same in your Boxter, it's very good indeed and the volume can be altered using the stero's volume control, and the sound quality is very good too.

Alan.
