A4 SPEED TRAP - have I been done?
Discussion
This morning on A4 heading out from Chiswick I was pressing on, and went past a Police 4x4 (not a scamera van) at what might potentially have been a bit above the limit. Further down the road was another 4x4 which had pulled someone over. Now, I am concerned I may be done by handheld laser. I was not stopped at the time, and having searched on the TFL website I find the following.........
"Mobile Equipment - The Partnership uses two types of equipment for mobile enforcement:
tripod mounted GATSO Type 24 radar system,
Lastec Local Laser.
GATSO equipment records images on film and the Lastec Local records offence images on video. Both systems are Home Office Type Approved and operated by trained Police Officers from highly marked dedicated vehicles.
Am I therefore right in thinking (hoping) that this was not a speed trap as they would have used a scamera van for such an undertaking.........
Any advice gratefully received.

If it were simply a laser they would have to stop you to give you the ticket as without video/camera evidence they can't issue the ticket retrospectively. Thankfully mobile cameras are still very rare. Sounds like you got away with it.
I also live in Chiswick and commute via A4 into central London every morning. Have noticed recently (even this morning) lots of police cars/bikes there stopping cars. No idea why.
I use a Roadangel but have never been triggered by any of these patrol cars.

If the local girls, sorry, BOYS in blue were pulling speeders they'd have done it there and then. It sounds like they were working together, but if you couldn't see a hairdryer gun pointing out the back of a van or from an overhead bridge etc, I think it may just be a bit of on the spot bullying from our crime fighting friends. Hurrah - I supsect you won't be singing like a canary or doing porridge anytime soon in the big house.......

Word of warning to A4 users - I've seen fully hairdryer'd up plod standing behind the wall on the left of the Hammersmith Flyover just as the slip road joins it - you'd have no chance if they caught you picking up a few extra mph as you came down the other side...
They must be getting bored then, traffic rarely seems to move fast enough to even consider speeding round here. I work in the middle of Hammersmith Broadway & on a bad day it takes until the M4 for the Range Rover to lift itself out of access ride height (lifts up at 20mph)

It was in the evening as I was heading out for a spin, know what you mean about traffic speed (I live just off Fulham Palace Rd), all those people with their Chelsea Tractors clogging up the roads
