It hasn't because it's been done to death recently. Plus Des only pops up once in a while with a provocative post about how wonderful RSs are, then disappears for three months, before a similar post gets made again. We try not to encourage him.
I like the 993RS Clubsport LHD because it's good on the road and going round bends and likes Badgers and Badgers like the 993RS Clubsport LHD too.........

Seriously.......the multi-link fat arse wide bottom 993RS Clubsporty LHD is so very planted and gives (me) the confidence to put the old pedal to the metal with complete confidence with no fear of wiping out a Badger Sett on our English Roads...this has to be the tool for The Nurbuggering.....not clinching the starfish when you start bouncing on the rough black stuff....though the 64 has a different raw Caveman feel..if you know what I'm saying.......

Do you have any recommended links/threads to read? How does it compare to say, a turbo of an earlier vintage? (I am a boost junkie after all)

Is a good starting point.
Essentially, the RS is a razor sharp track weapon (think Spec C in Imprezaland) compared to the point and squirt turbos. The 964 Turbo was heavier with a luxury GT agenda and earned its respect from sheer straightline grunt (third gear coming on boost is particularly fun!) but the 964RS isn't much slower in a straight line (they will do a GPS 170mph) and would murder it on a race track.
964 Turbos are considerably cheaper now than RSs. If you like massive boost, the old single turbo route (later turbos used twins) may give you the lagfest you're after. You'll need at least 17-20k for a 964 Turbo (and not less for a decent earlier one - called the 930 - sadly) and at least 28k for a 964RS. That said, the RS will not depreciate and may even go up in value.

Andy Baughn had his 993RS at Brands yesterday. He is a quick driver but I was surprised how quick it was. Ultimately it hasn't got the pace of the newer car but it is light, well sorted and doesn't need upgraded springs and shockers to realise it's potential.

Good to see you chaps yesteday, looking forward to seeing your in car footage Steve.
Having checked with a stopwatch, I was once again impressed (more like amazed) with Andy's driving,,, especially considering some of the other cars were on slicks!.....
A good example to those of us who still have a fair ammount of potential to realise.....I learnt a while ago not to follow him into bends when on road tyres
