I was trying to help someone get in a 996 with a flat battery yesterday. I was under the impression there is a jack point somewhere in the drivers footwell (fuseboard?) that you can attach aux 12V to allow you to open the bonnet. So, where is it? We had a look at two seperate 996's and couldn't find where to attach an external 12V supply.

So does it exist and if so, where? All answers of yes must be backed up by pictures to help the terminally stupid

I know about operating the pull rod under cover by sill and the emervency loop hiding inside the OS headlamp, but a powered solution is preferred if it does exist.

There is a bit in the fuse box which needs to be pulled out to connect the correct + or - cable to it (polarity identiified in the fuse box). Then take the other cable and attach it to loop thing which the door lock mechanism attaches to on the body work (just up from the kick boards). this should allow you to get access to the battery at the front, or the recharging points in the engine compartment.

(I don't bother with this as I have a battery charger thing that connects via the lighter socket. Probably worth replacing the battery as once they go......).
