About time we had a story like this..................

One hour ago took my 996 4S cab to OPC West Sussex to book it in for them to investigate the slight smell of coolant.

Even though it was their lunchtime and I told them it wasn't desparately important they had a quick look, diagnosed two failed radiators, claimed them as warranty work, found me a loaner on the spot and I can pick my car up at 5 this evening !!

Didn't even finish my coffee and was back at work in Brighton before my staff even missed me !

Doesn't really get much better than that does it ? (and the service receptionist was lovely too - added bonus !)

Oh and while it's there I've asked them to whack it up on the hoist and have a little peek at the you-know-what as its 2 years old and feels left out not having had one changed yet !

(And got a rather sexy little giggle from the receptionist at that too !!)

Terrible news, just heard - the worst ever - it doesnt need one - now I feel even MORE left out of the club !

(Obviously I was originally excluded anyway for buying a widebody cab tip in the first place!!)

That being the case, while I'm on a roll with them I'm sure that my 2 bald rear tyres must be covered too ?!!

(Mind you they did say they were only down to the canvas in a few small patches on the inside edges - so thats OK ?!)

and the petrol tank will be empty - I'd make sure they replace that under warranty as well.

I believe that the non failure of the *** is covered by most irreputable warranties

And I have just brought the receptionist a bunch of flowers for her efforts - I'm sure they will happily refund that out of petty cash ?

I'm feeling your pain Hussar , mine hasn't had a documented change of fms yet and despite several attempts at leaning on my OPC to change it (including rubbing a bit of spit on it when they weren't looking) they just aren't taking the bait.

Looks like it'll have to be a full price clutch then!!

By the way , re-your employees in Bristol missing you ... I believe you have no worries in that department......

I can well understand your angst at this terrible news. No ... failure - are you sure its a real Porsche you are driving? Perhaps a poke with a screw driver will convince your OPC that further investigation is required.

But hey, the good news is when you do eventually need a clutch, mix some old oil with half a tub of margarine, smear it all over the bell housing and feign total surprise when the OPC ring to advise of the you know what failure during the service inspection. As a well timed afterthought at hearing the terrible news, nonchantly slip in that perhaps they would be kind enough to check the clutch whilst the gearbox is out

Yes you're right - not a single worry about that - especially as they're in Brighton, not Bristol !!!

Sorry - exactly how much is a full price clutch on a tiptronic anyway ????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
