Hi,

Had my eye on a 111R for a while (as mentioned before) and thought i would explore the Boxster S before making a decision.

The 111R service intervals were working out like this (main dealer prices) + around £600 per year for tyres.

Year 1 A £180 9000 miles
Year 2 A £180 18000 miles
Year 3 B £250 27000 miles
Year 4 A £180 36000 miles
Year 5 C £500 45000 miles
Year 6 A £180 54000 miles
Year 7 A £500 63000 miles
Year 8 B £250 72000 miles
Year 9 A £180 81000 miles
Year 10 C £500 90000 miles

1. How does the Boxster S (2001 or 2002) compare for tyres and servicing ?

2. Where are the main dealers / specialist in Scotland ?

Insurance for Boxster S (2002) was about £500 compared to £700 for 111R.

Brakes - depends what you put on...up to £100 a corner on discs
PADS = £100-200 per

Thanks for any information.

Typical servicing costs can be found at - www.strasse.co.uk/service.asp

But you need to service annually at least. Tyres will be more, probably £200 a corner on average (depending on front or back, 17" or 18" rims).

They also like a drink, expect around 25mpg on 98RON if it's used as a daily driver and not caned too often.

Tyres:

Boxster rears can last between 6,000 - 12,000 miles depending on use (about £350 for two.

Fronts usually last twice as long.

Warranty:

The Porsche Approved Extended Warranty is about £725 pa and well worth considering (includes RMS). Requires a Porsche inspection and any faults need to be rectified first, so essential that it is done before purchase.
