Colour coating on interior blistering?

At the nimble age of 4 my Boxster is starting to run up a couple of admittedly small issues - the most annoying of which is that the colour coating on the driver side door pocket cover is starting to blister & come off along the edge.
Asked at the OPC about this and is apparently known & due to the coating being sensitive to chafing from the seat belt which may scratch past it when opening/closing.
The dealer is trying to get this replaced free of charge (considering I opted to extend the warranty) but no feedback yet.
Is this a common issue & is there any type of care you can apply to the coating to avoid future damage?
