Has anyone delved into a 996 door trim? I've got THE most annoying rattle coming from within the door. I plan to go in to invstigate but if anyone's got any pointers/hints for an easy assault on said door panel it'd be much appreciated. I've done loads of stereo work in cars in the past and have taken lots of car interiors to bits, however a quick recce of the door doesn't reveal an easy entrance for a 1st time Porsche rattle investigator . My car does have OPC warranty but I presume it won't cover a 4 y/e car for annoying rattles?

Also.....on a geographically connected subject, anyone have any recommendations for a front speaker upgrade? My car just has the std ICE, although I've now hooked in a IPOD through a Dension ICE Link . I think the weak link at the moment is the std fronts so was considering an upgrade, possibly during my rattle investigation!

Sorry can't help with how to remove the interior trim - try Rennlist, they always come up with the goods.

I have had the door speakers replaced with JL Audios in a custom enclosure, so it looks pretty stock.

This and other changes (front end / changer / component amps) improved the sound quality from the top of the range Porsche items that were installed originally.

there was a post on here a few weeks ago which provided a link to a web site where you could download complete 996 workshop manuals - everything on there from stripping the dash to removing the door panels.

I can't remember the name of the thread but if you can't find it give me a shout and I will mail you the entire manual to you.

Cheers all. Managed to find a "how to" on Rennlist. The rattle was a screw that was just about to fall out within the door. My P&J is now pretty much rattle free!

Yeah mine rattles. I used the following process to correct :

1. Reach forward to dash board
2. Turn up stereo

Only works if you've got the sound upgrade.

My rattles are louder than everything except the tyre noise.
