Hi all, I have recently bought a C4S (2002 facelift model) and am never sure about the gear selection when pushing it harder at higher speeds. If you want to blast it off whilst doing about 85-90mph it seems best to drop down to 3rd but I'm not sure if that's too low.

also, do others find it quicker in the change by lifting off when changing up or do they keep the accelerator planted

Any advice?

(p.s. - BMW and Volvo drivers, what's with them? When ever I'm just chilling out and cruising they seem to linger around on my boot like a bad smell!?!)

Accelerating, just keep it planted and let the auto upchange do the work for you Wanna take off, just press the minus button till it won't change down any more and plant it. You can also hold the auto upchange off if you lift the throttle a fraction when you're close to the red line for cornering etc.

basicly if its a tip it wont allow you to drop it to low. I generally only drop 1 gear unless I am below 3000 rpm. to be frank if you are red lining it every where 2 things are going to happen.

1 you are going to become best friends with your local pertol station

2 you are not going to become best friends with youe local police

Actually I had to drop a gear or two to get out of the way of an Astra police car coming down the A1M with flashing blues when I had traffic in front. What was amusing was I zoomed off and pulled in to get out of his way and it took a REALLY embarassingly long time for him to catch up and over take! oops!
