I have a 1984 944 body into which I want to transpalnt a 1989 2.7 lux engine from my other damaged 944. Do I have to swap the whole of the wirng loom? Or is there someway I can remove the factory fitted alarm/imobilizer and alter just the engine management part of the early wiring?

Might be worth asking here www.porscheclubgbforum.com/ you will need to register to read/post in the forums but there is a wealth of knowledge in there. Is the 2.5 lump shot? Although the 2.7 has a bit more mid range, I can't really see it being a very worthwhile conversion, its a lot of hasssle for little benefit.

My old car was an 82 shell fitted with a 2.7. It ran with the 2.5 injection ecu, wiring etc with no problems.
The strong mid range torque with the lower gearing of the old car made it easily more flexible than my S2.

As far as I know, wiring loom stays the same, but the 2.7 needs a diferent ROM in the ECU compared to an early 2.5. Plenty available on the web, e.g. Promax etc.
