Having some roof down fun this afternoon on the Keighley moors. I slowed down to about 5mph as we passed a couple of horses coming the other way as, well call me old fashioned, I don't think that 5000 rpm / sports exhaust / horses mix that well. Only to have the passenger of the 306(?) behind start waving at me to get out of the way. Anyway once the horses were a suitable distance behind me I acceded to his request.

The funny thing is the above combination appears not to mix well with 306's either. Judging by the progress they made I assume it causes loss of power and an inability to turn the steering wheel.

Consider yourself spanked - b!tch.

Good for you, DRG!

I am constantly amazed at how little patience drivers have if they perceive you as travelling too slowly for the conditions. Usually these same people perceive a wintry day with black ice as an opportunity to do a constant 90 two inches off the rear bumper of the car in front...and, as you tell, have not idea of what is appropriate near steeds of the equine, rather than automotive, variety.

In particular I dislike those that show no regard fo the fact that the driver of a lower slung vehicle than their Range huge 4x4 may wish to provide a reasonable level of passenger comfort, safety, and consideration for their vehicle's front spoiler by slowing to walking pace to go over speed bumps - when, of course, their 4x4 can simple ignore them.

Oh how they gesticulate and sound the horn at what they perceive to be an inappropriate speed! Oh how satisfying it is to watch the front of their car dwindle to a tiny spot in the rear view over a period of a few seconds.

Driver's of sports cars everywhere. It is OUR responsibility to show these numpties what an appropriate speed is for the conditions. If its S-L-O-W so be it!

Rarely is that likely to be the case...

(Not up to derestrictor but, hell, I tried!)

Incidentally the van belonged to local sub-aqua shop is there a link to be made there

Yes there is definitely a link, visit said shop and give the amoeba a slap.

Alternatively an anonimous call to the management pointing out how particularly reckless the driver of the van was on a certain day may help you sleep better and perhaps make the roads safer for everyone else.

I live very close to A5, where due to roadworks (So they say anyway, but can't see it been raised back to 60 after their finished) the limit is 30 mph, with no speed camera signs. Living quite close and knowing the local Police would not miss such a great opportunity to catch some criminals, I am very careful through here sticking to the limit. I now know of 2 people who have been caught by a talivan, and have now seen them on numerious occasions. The number of people that flash their lights/overtake me dangerously/give me polite hand signals is amazing, one bloke even got out of his car to give me some good advice as we waited in the queue at the next island. I've even had 38 tonners travelling 2 inches from my rear bumper to try and get me to go faster. There is no way they wold have stopped if I had applied the ankers!!!!

I know that the 30 limit is taking the P**s somewhat, but knowing the area and the chances of being caught, for the distance we are talking about (about a mile), it ain't worth it. Why can others not see this?

About a year ago, the rear view mirror dropped off my daily car -haven't bothered to fix it. When matey is THAT close I can't see him in the wing mirrors anyway, so what the hell.........

Coupla years ago I was outraged enough to complain about a Transit minibus trying to investigate the contents of my boot, overtaking in a 30 limit in face of oncoming traffic etc. Rang the company, charity sponsored by Lord Tavener's -driver was apparently suspended....

Rewster,

Absolutely right - there's a time and a place. What's the point of arriving at the next set of lights 10 seconds earlier if it costs you £60 / 3 points / more insurance. Perhaps i'm just being paranoid, but I get the feeling that the BiB are more likely to pull someone hooning around in something exotic rather than Mundaneo man. Despite the fact that exotica is meant for hooning about in!

Am I being paranoid or is it just that you are all against me?
