After six years ownership I'm having to let my beloved 1972 911 2.4E go to a new home. This was the car I bought for life having been through a number of other classics. I took two and a half years to find a good one and then looked after it like it was mine forever...bugger is that I've now met a woman...bigger house...mortgage...kids....blah. I have no real idea what its worth. Its an original RHD, the colour is Irish Green (a rare but original Porsche colour (British Racing Green to you and I)- the cars original colour was a kind of 1970's brown. Unusually it has a tan interior. Its not showroom, but its a very good, "correct" and solid car which won't leave a new owner with horrors. Any ideas gents?

Don't sell it - you wil miss and and you will become murder to live with. Everything will fall apart from there and then when you look back at the mess your life has become you will realise it all went wrong when you sold your old green 911.

You will then spend 5 years trying to buy it back again.

However to answer your original question I'm sorry I havn't a clue

James, I know, I know....I went through this a couple of years ago...I went to a Classic Porsche counsellor who advised me that money couldn't buy what I was considering letting go of...I bloody know 'cos there's so much c**p out there....

Its actually a 1972 as well, so there's no road tax to pay....maybe I could look after it for the National Trust or something...

I really like the 2.4E, and they are becoming increasingly sought after - with the genuinely good ones around £25k.

The brown interior won't be to everyone's taste, but I think the 'colour change' might be a greater concern.

Oh David no you cant sell it. Pitty it couldnt go in Dick Lovetts window. I seam to recall some of the family Porsches appearing as centre pieces in the showrooms in Bristol and Swindon a few years ago. There was definately a 356 and a tractor on display.

Thanks Geneve. Its not really a brown interior....more a golden sand colour. Yes, I thought for over three seconds about the colour change when I bought it...it was only the second 911 I'd driven which actually felt right (I'd tried over a dozen....they felt like they'd been put together wrong...a lot of them have)...I'm a "driver", so really I bought it by the seat of my pants because that's what I wanted! I suppose someone could take it back to the original brown if they were that worried..

Hi Agent, yes, it's all matching numbers etc (I came across one bloke when I was looking who'd spent £40K doing up an "S" which wasn't...poor bugger....I used to go to the Old 911 club in Richmond and Mark Waring looked at mine and thought it was one of the most "correct" cars around.
