I am just curious how many of us lie to our partners about the costs of these cars.My old 3.2 911 got to the stage where i just refused to speak about it and paid for stuff cash so it did not show on the statements.

No different to my last car TBH.
Car things just cost "man money" or half the purchase price

I have it worse, my misses has only ever had company cars, so she doesn't have a clue about running costs, never mind running costs of 911

I have a deal where every pound I spend on the car a similar amount must be "donated" to a cause....."handbag liberation front" and "shoe supporters foundation".

I dread the annual service and pray my clutch holds out.

Your question pre-supposes that a Porsche owner might put himself in a position whereby his wife has access to his bank account, and might therefore be able to form an opinion on the efficacy of his spending. Extraordinary!

Someone I know replaced his year old Murcielago with one the same colour so he didn't need to tell his wife

I can imagine how easy it would be to get away with that. laugh

If I swapped mine for another the same colour that was still a Porsche (even going from my 968 to any model 911), I could imagine there being a slight quizzical silence for the first 5 seconds, but nothing ever said, as she'd convince herself she must be imagining it. I'd just have to replace the empty water bottles into the passenger door pod, for that finishing touch.

That's a familiar feeling...

I run mine as my company car so the costs are very well documented....

Still, the costs are insignificant compared to the kids.

quite, we have one joint account for all the bills/mortgage and the rest stays in our own accounts to do with as we like, she doesn;t complain about £1k on a sports exhaust, I don't complain about an £800 handbag eek

Exactly, only sensible way to go about it IMO.

rage

one is the result of months of research and development, years of experience, material costs and skilled manufacture. the other is the result of some bloke called serge with a crayon and a colouring book, 1/4 of a dead crocodile and £750 profit. had this conversation with the wife recently; value of a day at donnington vs. a green coat. we agreed to disagree.
