I'm planning on doing my disks and pads soonish ..

I'm also on the lookout for a parts supplier for my pal who's just got a bloody gorgeous '70 911E , and he's looking to start with getting a full service kit for the car.

I'd like to order genuine Porsche parts over the internet , and I've heard you guys throw out some names in the past ... Who do you recommend??

I haven't used any of this (so am not in a position to recommend them), but have a look at:
Carnewal
Design911
Jasmine
Porscheshop

someone asked on this forum about brakes last week and a couple of us reccomended www.eurocarparts.com

from personal experience, orignal equipment at reduced price...parts often come in Porsche branded boxes.

and as far as personal experience of the 4 listed above.....used all 4 ...2 i would use gain..i wouldn't go near the other 2 as their idea of customer service left a lot to be desired......needless to say, the guys in belgium and Lancashire are very good.

No name & shame, others may have different experiences....

I have used Design 911 and have had no problems. Parts odered over the net and they arrived within 2 days.

They stock OEM parts and seem reasonable. I am particularly taken by the twin oval exhaust tips at £259 plus VAT....the kids have only got to clean a few more chimneys and I will have the cash to buy them.

Seconded. Bert is very helpful.

I use OPC Osnabruck for specialist parts. Excellent service from Frank Kuhlman,

Pound Euro rate is stronger too!

If you look on the Design911 site individual prices are quoted for the pads, disks, anti squeel jobbies and the "you will need a new front end soon if you are not careful" wear indicators.

When I priced the job a few months ago I was initally cheered at the cost of the pads and disks but then became increasingly surprised at the cost of all the little extras that build up.

Nevertheless, the prices were still cheaper than the £1300 plus VAT yikes my local OPC quoted to complete the job!

If you are going to do the job yourself, there was an articule in the last edition of the Independant Porsche Owners Club magazine giving a step by step guide to doing the work. Seemed quite simple but I always seem to make a crisis out of a drama when it comes to all things mechanicial so I will let my local garage sort mine.

Thanks for that C2 , Can I get that mag on line , I haven't seen it about?

Also ,can you remember what the total parts cost was? At least it'll give me an idea if I've ordered everything correctly.

Cost was approximately £544 in UK folding - don't know what that is in euros, although there is a currency selector on the site.

I am not sure if the articule is on line - I just managed to get hold of a copy (please beleive me when I say I am not a member and have never had a beard!)

I will look for the mag tonight and if I can find it I will try and get it scanned/mailed or faxed over to you. Apparently the job is "easy" - yeh rite!!

ebsracing in the states (EBSRacing.com) Useful if you blow your engine and want to replace the top end with race spec Ti components at less than the cost of GBP priced 'standard' kit. They also source pagid pads, discs, etc. Helpful as well!

I've used design911 a couple of times, and they've been very good - generally staffed by people who really know their porkers.....

Prices are very competitive as well -not quite as cheap as GSF or Eurocarparts, but the advice is well worth paying the (tiny) bit extra for...

design 911 just supply the parts and nothing you need to fit them and the little extra's really add up(I bought exhaust tips off them)

Gert / Carnewal more expensive but supplies everything you need and help on tap doing it (bought Bilstein HD’s off him thinks of a set RSR’s too)

Jasmine nice guys friendly and honest not cheapest but trustworthy (part ex'd my old wheels with them. They gave an overly honest description when talking to them)
