Afternoon all,

I have a quick headlight problem...my right headlight only, will not work on dipped beam. High beam is OK, sidelights are OK, but not dipped. Are there any earth wires that could cause this problem? (wishfull thinking, probably) I changed the bulb in the headlight but to no avail which is not surprising if I'd stopped to think about it.

Are there any contacts that give problems, or anything that I can look at before I take it to a garage?

Thanks,

Dom

What 911 is it? A friend had the same problem with his 964 but not sure what the outcome was (he also found out that the bulb didn't help).

The n/s side light on my '81 SC was very intermittent - it turned out ot be a dirty connector behind the headlight.

Thanks, Danny - I'll look at the connectors etc. again tonight, although when I pulled the connector off to replace the blub it looked OK, at a glance.

Had a chat with my porsche tech re this. He said it could be the switch, either the unit itself or a loose connection behind it. Apparently they improved the connection on the 964 as the 3.2 used a spade connector and could fall off.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Domster. I appreciate it.

I take it that you mean the pull-push rotary switch used to switch the lights on? I'll try and have a look tonight. 3.2s not being your forte, I don't supposed you happen to know if it is accessible to a non-grease monkey without stripping the dashboard down? Does anyone know if I can just pull/lever it out? Gently of course...

Yeah, that rotary thing is the switch unit. It looks the same on the 964 but the connection is different, apparently (they also modified the dial connections with the 964 IIRC). Anyway, I imagine you have to unscrew the dash panel to access it. A Haynes manual should show how.

Cheers
