A problem has developed on the electrics for my roof - it goes down at the touch of the button, but when it comes to putting it up, usually when it starts to rain, the switch doesnt work mad
By tapping the relay under the glove compartment, it starts working again, but the next time i need the hood up quickly, its knackered again! banghead
Any pointers to remedy problem????

The "spoiler??" relay was replaced last weekend - this i was told was the relay that 'clicked' when the switch for the hood is pressed. Alas - problem remains.

switch contacts? maybe the up one is knackered or burned a bit, etc.? Maybe replace the switch with another one temporarily; see if it still does it?

Well whichever relay you tap to get it going would be the one to replace. Sounds like the internal contacts have aged. Most relays are only a few quid.

Checking the contacts at the same time would make sense. They're usually female spade connectors that are a doddle for anyone with the right crimp tool to replace if they have burned out.

Take the said relay out and run some solder over the connections. Probably just saved you £200 so shall we go halves?

£200 for a relay yikes Surely it'll be a standard Bosh or similar NO relay that can be bought from anywhere for a tenner?
