Hello people. I have just aquired a 1985 porsche 944. There is no spark from the ignition coil. There is power to the ignition coil. I have hot wired the coil but still no spark. I have changed the coil still no spark. The vehicle has been standing and has only done about 1000 miles in the last 4 years. I sent it to an auto-electrician and they said it could be the ECU, but I have had it tested and it came back ok. The dizzy cap and rotor arm appear to be relatively new and seem to be ok. Is there an ignition module that I need to check?. I have cleaned the earths by the fuse box in the left hand footwell. Can anyone lend any advice?.

Worth cleaning/replacing engine earth and battery earth too.
When I had immob probs with mine, I had electrics but no turn over on starter.
I'd also second checking DME - or 18quid its woth keeping one as a spare in glovebox anyway - more info - http://frwilk.com/944dme/dmerelay.htm - shows u how to get around with paperclip if you want to test/get you home in emergency

Wot Iggy said

Definately try a new DME relay (under £20 from an OPC or others), it is responsible for switching on the fuel pump and all manner of circuits for the ignition. You can bypass the relay using a simple jumper if you follow the instructions in the Garage Shop Manual at www.clarks-garage.com/ it also details how you can test your existing relay for effectiveness.

Clarks is the 944 owners friend

Thanks for your advice on the DME relay. I think the probglem lies with the ignition system. I now have power to the ignition coil, Dirty relay connections. I have fuel at the fuel rail but still no spark from the coil to spark plugs. Possible ignition module? or crankshaft position sensors?. HELP!
