Hi Guys
This is the in car footage that we filmed last month. It's a big file

Too long, Ok, crap?
I would appreciate your thoughts.

Excellent!!! Steve, Many thanks for posting.
I liked the multi frame aspect, as when on the occasion the picture quality may have been slightly lacking in one frame there was an alternative.
I would liked to have seen an inset of the tacho and even mph, the reason with the tacho is that I drive some of those turns in a higher gear,,,admittedly a different car etc...
I was very interested in your technique through clearways, I always try to keep that as a smooth arc, powering smoothly on as I gently bring the steering wheel straight,,,,you appeared to push to find a the level of grip then correct with a little opposite lock.....was that the case, or do you do that to determine the level of grip available or go in as fast as possible to adjust?....clearly your experience shows. Cheers

Thank you.
I've just been told by the film company that they have finished a version with real time data logger. Will post when i get it.
With regard to clearways, it goes off camber and there is a bump on the apex so the car goes light there, if you watch my feet you will see that I keep the power on an make a slight steering correcting if needed. You can carry a lot of speed into clearways but be ready for the mid corner off camber/ bump combination. a lot of drivers get caught out there.

Steve,
I'm not sure what comments you were eliciting, but fwiw...
I thought the video was very professional and worthwhile, certainly far better than my own attempts at in-car video which show a limited view of driver and circuit from a single vantage point. However, I did find the picture-in-picture presentation a bit busy, perhaps because of the subdivision of what was (on my PC) a small image. Do the multiple forward views add value?
I enjoyed the in-car shots of your driving style - very consistent and economic. Would you, given the choice, prefer the steering wheel a bit closer to you?
What a busy day!

Great to have in car vid of someone driving a 911 quickly around various tracks.
In terms of the filming it's still quite hard to see the road outside the windscreen, dunno how car programs do it, but it must be possible (maybe they set the contrast for the outside and sacrifice seeing so much of the interior which would be fine)? I realise that you've got another camera on the outside, but I don't like that view much for instructional stuff. Should get them to mike up the engine/exhaust note better too
Is this to go with another Total 911 article?

Awesome driving Steve...
Don't you get annoyed by all the people that take AGES to get out of the way :serious question: ??? Aside from looking pretty dangerous, it must be pretty frustrating.
PS. have you got a warning light on in the dash? Where's the front section of the cage??
I liked it. If you could get the picture quality issues sorted out, this would be excellent. Did I see a Ferrari 456 on track? Brave man whoever that is - that thing has brake discs the size of shirt buttons.
Anyone got to try a 996 GT3 RS against a 997 GT3 yet? Any verdict on what would be quicker around a circuit?

Steve - good bit of footage..
As per others comments above, I think the forward facing camera inside the car needs to be moved a little as the view is terrible! (is that permanent light reflection?). Also agree with Dan on the noise - Mic needs to be turned up a bit to get engine note a bit more.
Heres a clip of some video with a slightly different viewing angle and louder noise to help you decide
HERE
BTW - did the grey MKII jump on the brakes quite early (Graham Hill Bend) into that footage? Looks like you got closer than you would have liked!

Great vid Steve,
Good for us mere mortal GT3'ers too
Just one question, on one of the fast right handers of the back of the circuit (Poss Westfield or Dingle Dell ?, sorry don't
know Brands too well ?)
you grab 2nd gear, but only for 2-3 seconds, is there any specific reason for this, as you seem to be carrying plenty
enough speed for 3rd......??
Cheers

The exit of that corner is quite bumpy so I grab 2nd so that the engine gives less rotational torque to driven wheels which are already on the edge of lateral adhiesion. I can get on the power earlier and the car is more stable. I'm not on the limiter till the car is straight. Works for me

Thats really nicely recorded and the wide angle lense really helps convey the position of the car on the track. You really don't need an external camera when you've got that, although I guess they could do the typical car program front right wheel cam or something with the now spare camera! Decent sound recording too - where did you place the mike?
Have you post processed it as the colours look quite saturated?

Really good footage Steve...gives the 'less well endowed' and idea of how it should be done! Thought it was better than the one you did in the rain at Spa. On the mult-screen setting it's sometimes a bit difficult to see through the windscreen at whats coming up...though you could probably do it in your sleep....
