I'm wondering how long till this is with us. There have apparently been a few near this mark on EBay of late and not just LHD. I fancy sub 10k, though pretty much everything else I'd like is standard anyways..maybe BOSE would be nice.

Any ideas on how long this is likely to take?

I'm also very interested in what OPC's are offering to buy 997S? Ive heard rumour that early 05 cars are taking a £20k hit on list, can this really be true?

Cheapest OPC 997S currently being sold is for £56,960. 11/04 with 22k miles but not great spec.

Won't be long until sub 50k 997s start appearing.....

I'm deeply confused as to how a 996C4S-say 53 plate around 20k can be mid £40k's when the newer car is not that much more expensive (assuming both from OPC)

I'd love to find someone looking to unload a C2S to a dealer, as IF the £20k hit is correct that could put me in the driver seat!

Non S version and in LHD as well.

Not sure about the GT3 seats but the Techart wheels look pretty nice. In the real world this is probably a sub 50k car with a bit of haggling.

A bid on a standard 997 Carrera back in June at BCA Blackbushe.
It went for £49,500 (I pulled out before then)

It had no service history though and three (!!) previous owners (it was a re-possessed finance car)

Ive long thought Blackbushe is an expensive way to buy a car-that proves it. I appreciate some dealers make on finance but I regularly see cars sell there for more than you would pay via Auto Trader. The "Top Marques" biweekly sales are massively expensive.

Anyone got an idea what an OPC buyer would offer on a low miles 997S with a little warranty left??

A guy on the PCGB forum sold a stunning red one for £50k recently. Spec was:

997 C2S

Guards Red Regestered 11 November 2004

Specification:

Black Full Leather
Tiptronic S Gearbox
Electric Sunroof
Rear Wiper
Bose Sound System
CD Autochanger
Navigation Module PCM
PCM Telephone Module
Heated Seats
Smooth 3 Spoke Multi function Steering Wheel
Leather Sports Seats
Rear Park Assist
Cruise Control
Self Dim Mirror and Rain Sensor
Tracker

She has done 23950 miles serviced at Dick Lovett Bristol

I have also had the Sat/Nav TMC and post code entry upgrade at OPC (£500)

The car drives like new I do not smoke and she is still under warranty and looks fab.

Sounds like a good deal. 996's free with packs of Frosties next

I met someone at a track day recently who was a buyer for one of the OPC groups. He indicated that early 997s were now well under £50k in the trade, but went on to justify how selective the OPCs were and how much preparation goes into their approved used cars.

He said that the factors that reduced values were:
- the late 04/early 05 cars
- those with over 24k miles
- those with unpopular colours/specs
- non-official imported cars from independents (some OPCs won't retail them even if uk spec)
- those that have had significant accident repairs (even if v.high quality approved repairs)
- those with high no of owners

I paid £73k for my 2005 (sept) C2S (silver and Tip) and sold it to Porsche trade at £66k with 3.5k on the clock for reference.

Sold in June. They have it back up at £72,400 on the porsche website but no takers....diddums..nice car too.
Someone bid them £68.5k and steal it off them lads!

which will go for 55k to anyone who can bargain a bit, so 51/2k privately, so OPC already offering under 50k

Ah well spotted Carrera 2!
I did admit to a little leg pulling in that post - although perhaps I've seen the light since!

I was hoping to buy the 997 and sell it on at a profit.
I've always been crap at meking money on cars (I always lose bucketloads)I lost quite a lot on the previous 997 I owned and I was hoping to learn from my mistakes by buying at auction.

Very valid point about Blackbushe though - lots of people really over pay there. They get carried away with it I suppose.

Therefore back to the drawing board on trying to make money on cars for me - best to stick to just enjoying them.
