Today just been shopping, reversing in to my driveway in the 964, bloke in an old BMW 5 series has to stop and wait so I can get in, and when he drove past with his window open guess what he said?

Nice car!

Sorry it was all a bit of a shock in todays culture, I was expecting a tirade of abuse for making him wait a nano second! But what a lovely surprise!

Was driving through an estate the other day & 3-4 13 year old lads started shouting as I passed, then ran after the car (I was only doing 20mph)
Thought I was going to get car-jacked but the came alongside & stuck their thumbs up & said "wicked car mate"

R.

PS: Then I realised my wheels were missing ! only joking !

And there's more:

Coming out of a mates home to leave.

Two 4-5 old girls on the other side of the road watching me
getting into the car to drive away.

One of them shouts, "That's a really nice car You have there".

Completely flattened, just able to reply a miserable "Thanks".

Need to wash the car more often, me thinks. Maybe I can even
attract grown women, then...

Cheers,
Frank

I suspect the spitting is hard to deflect in similar circumstances. Is that the reason for the umbrella holder on the nearside sill - so you can whip it out when a low flying greenie is spotted heading your way?

At least with my coupe I just have to wipe it off the bodywork!

On a slightly different (but funyy) note, I recently parked in the street near Arsenal. Three little ten year olds on BMXs pulled up.

"Nice car mate... Give us a fiver and we'll look after it."

"No need lads, the dog's in the passenger side...."

"Oh....."

As I march off down the road one of them shouts..

"Your dog put out fires does it?"

Can't believe that, censored cnut maybe.

I often have to drive on the outskirts of notoriously rough area of Portsmouth. It's about the only place I'm guaranteed to get some kid shout "nice car".

They must recognise a chav wagon when the see one.

Well this was different and not at all expected: I've recently moved into a new place with a built in garage underneath. I was reversing my car out and up to the road the other day and I noticed the old boy (late 70s early 80s) who lives above twitching his curtains. Parked up and as I was getting out he was walking towards me. I was thinking here we go, he's gonna moan about the noisy exhaust or the fumes or something. He came up and said "So what size is the engine" "3.2" I said, a little taken aback "Oh" he said, "I used to race twin turbo 3.3's back in in the 70s. Best car ever made" and proceeded to tell me about some of the various exploits he used to get up to in them! Fantastic! At least I know I won't be getting complaints from him! What a neighbour eh?

On the weekend we pulled up next to a 996TT at the lights in our non-Porsche and my wife told me and my son to stop staring at it. Determined to be a good role-model for my son I ignored the wife and gave the P driver the thumbs-up, and made the appropriate noises as he sped off. Of course the wife doesn't mind the attention when she's the one in the Porsche...
