I will post a route and meeting point if interest warrants it. Via a/B roads about 70miles in total. Non competitive, no timing racing etc.

Please post if you are interested in coming, will be leaving around 8.00am to avoid traffic. Cheers

I dont know the format for the PCGB meet-but frankly Im not too interested in just standing around talking about wax and options and whatever. The Elise runs were DRIVES that you would remember afterwards.

I am surprised at how little interest there seems to be for this amongst PORSCHE owners. An early start, whilst inconvenient, is required to avoid Sunday traffic......

The famous Elise 'fish and chip' runs that used to take place also had their fair share of CRASHES.

Please remember that any run or drive discussed on these forums will become associated with Pistonheads if something goes wrong and the story gets in the papers. PetrolTed, the owner of this site, could then come in for a lot of flak.

That is why you should ask for people to email you privately through your profile, or arrange for the meet/drive to be sanctioned.

Don has arranged some superb runs before now, and it is great that you are doing the same. However, the last major Pistonheads meet had its first 'official' incident, when the police turned up after a Cerbera spun onto a dual carriageway reservation. It just shows the potential for things going wrong.

So yes, standing around chatting can be boring in comparison to going for a drive (and the Bird in Hand event I went to was a little low key compared to some of the PH ones I've attended), but no one every lost their licence or their NCB by talking cars in a pub somewhere. I have been on many convoy runs and they often become mini-cannonball events after the first few cautious miles. I remember an Esprit convoy drive I took part in with my Lotus Carlton for many reasons - accidentally going through a (luckily empty) Gatso at about 20mph over the speed limit in a small village in open countryside straddled by national speed limit signs was one of them Wasn't too proud of myself after, but Mr R Mist was also in convoy with us that day

As for attendence on Sunday, I'm not sure how many members are near Guildford, and a long drive to an early rendezvous may put some of them off. And others may be otherwise engaged... I'm driving a track prepped 944 around Goodwood that weekend, for example

All the best for the run.
