Hi guys, another question regards my new purchase. The inspection found a hole in the back box of the exhaust and its blowing pretty bad. Where can i get a replacement back box (perhaps stainless steel)? I really want to keep the standard oval tail pipe if possible. any ideas?

The Janspeed back box from Simon at Essential Styling is the way to go, in my opinion. It fills the gap in the rear valance much better than the original and gives a much fruitier sound. www.essentialstyling.com.

Have a look at my Turbo Convertible in the Classifieds if you want to see what it looks like....

Thanks for the reply. Does the janspeed exhaust make much improvement in sound or performance?

The sound is far superior but not noisey so as to be intrusive. I don't think you get a great uplift in performance if you are just replacing the rear section, you would though if you replace the complete system.

I think there's a sound bit on the ESS website...

I know that fellow Pistonheader Davyboy has a Dansk stainless steel rear exhaust box for sale at a good price - it doesn't have the huge 6"x4" tailpipe that the ESS has so looks much nicer IMHO. He only had it fitted for a couple of hundred miles, but his extreme suspension lowering and thicker anti-roll bars gave fitment .

Thanks diver, i dont want to sound old but im not too keen on the big bore exhausts. The janspeed ESS one has a good rep from what ive read but i dont really like the look/style of it. Id be happy with a stainless normal tail pipe, is that what the dansk one looks like? a de cat pipe is certainly on the cards next year!

RPM Porsche do their own backbox for the exhaust on the 944 Turbo. Would be worth a look IMHO

I'm in the same camp as you Davey68, I don't like big bore exhausts. I've got the Dansk back box on my Turbo and it looks very similar to the standard except its highly mirror polished all the way back. They are £160 new from Berlyn Services, though I got mine from an Ebay trader Annantone who regularly auctions them. Sometimes they go for silly £250 money, but I got mine for £130 IIRC
