My head unit decided to stop working on Friday evening so wondered if anyone had maybe upgraded and had a spare sitting around? It's a basic Becker unit from a '99 996, though anything similarly original looking would be fine.

Thanks,

Chris

Yup, i've got a head unit from my 98 C4, think its a CDR21 or 22, its down at my local indie at the moment and needs decoding but they will sort that for me. I'm back in UK early next week so drop me a line if you've not got one sorted by then.

Alternatively get a becker Traffic Pro which is just as good (sounds better IMHO), looks OEM and gives you SatNav, I picked up a new one on ebay for £250 and fitted it myself in less than 3 hours

Hi Lee, thanks for that, I'll be in touch if nothing else pops up. Wasn't sure about how the coding would work when doing a straight swap.

Was already thinking about going down the Sat Nav route anyway but hadn't thought of going for an integrated unit - do you know if the Becker unit can include Speed Camera warnings?

The coding is no prob as so long as you know the code you just enter it first time it powers up.

The Becker Traffic Pro units are great as they look OEM, but of course have a limited display size. I use a Road Angel for separate traffic scamera warning (it's pretty easy to wire it up at same time as installing Traffic Pro)..... and I've got one of those you could have as well! (Needs a database update - last done 3 months ago)

Lee, you sound like a personal shopper - don't suppose you've got a spare 32" LCD tv and a 6' by 5' garden shed kicking around have you? And I'll be sure to forward on my Christmas shopping list in a couple of months...

Probably not interested in the Road Angel thanks if you want to help Nervy give his licence a break.
