I am buying a LHD Cayenne, chosen for its road manners and the ready availability of dealerships in mainland Europe (also, the idea of collecting and driving back from factory appeals) I have property in Croatia and need (whatever my son might say) a 4x4 - but I see no need for driving there to be the chore it would be in a 'harder' off-road vehicle

As you say in your notes "it's an SUV and a bloody expensive one at that" yet I have not seen it come out top of any report yet, whatever the basis of the test. Still seems to be the BMW for "overall driving experince" VW Toureag (or whatever the stupid thing is called) is condsidered better than the Porsche badged version, and the new Volvo XC90 seems to win many reports for the best compromise between price and ability. Can't see what the "Porsche Pepper" offers other than a badge. Still I'm sure you will enjoy it. Rich...

Previous (very positive) experience of being a Porsche owner, not having to buy from hopeless local BM dealership, and most importantly it's not called TOERAG !

i would imagine the 4.5 twin turbo v8 has something to do with the decision too.

Yes Rich, you may reconsider your opinion when you've got the flashing headlights of a 2 ton SUV filling your rear view mirror at 160

(and it goes round corners )

I actually saw one here in Budapest the other day and it looked pretty good, smaller than I imagined.

That's a very nice line-up of cars you've got there jondokic!

Hope the Cayenne's as good as you hope - tell us what your impressions of it are when you get it!
