whats involved in a 111 point check at a OPC?
Discussion
hmm i wouldnt be so sure chap.
Ive just had a 996 put through the 111 point check and it came back with quite a list. For example - windscreen drain grates collecting debris (37 quid to pull the leaves out), exhaust trims rattling (400 quid to replace both trims - this was fixed by an independent by fitting new bolts for pennies btw), seatbelt adjuster broken (80 quid), rear spats and front scoop inserts (the small plastic aerodynamic aids) broken (113 quid to fix, although i cant see anything wrong with any of them). They also wanted to check for a coolant leak as something looked wrong to them with the coolant expansion tank (this turned out to be because the coolant tank had recently been replaced, there was nothing wrong with it), (the cost being close to 200 quid to pressurise and test the system). Oh and 90 quid to re-drill the holes out of the rear discs (apparently these fill with brake dust over time) - the independent didnt charge for this as it took their mechanic about 15 minutes.
In the end ive had some of it fixed at an indie, and the rest ill get done at the OPC to get the warranty approved, and because i wanted to start from a straight car to begin with. But my point being - dont expect it to sail through the 111 -check, even a smattering of small "faults" if the buyer wants the resolved, are going to add up.
Would the buyer agree to having the faults fixed at an indie ?.

ahh now you didnt say that did you
- yup im guessing you wouldnt have to pay for those sorts of things, they would be warranty fixes. It is as you say wear and tear items that you would be obliged to pay for such as pads / discs.
Mine is a year out of warranty so nope im not covered
i am taking out a warranty as we speak though !.
What are you moving on to next if you dont mind me asking ?

I just bought a C2 privately - had the car inspected at Nottingham OPC and they only found 3 things wrong! 1. Wipers needed changing (£17) 2. Brake Fluid needed replacing (£25) 3. rear brake discs needed reskimming (£110). All were paid by the seller. i bought the warranty.
Guess it all depends on the car and the OPC "inspector".
