Hi folks. I am sure this topic has been done to death but I couldn't search for previous postings as the search server is down (come on Ted biglaugh).

I nearly bought a lovely 996 Turbo Cab today but brought my 2 year old along to check out how she was with the Porsche car seat and she wasn't! Porsche's stage 2 car seat involves a section that sits on the childs lap that you feed the seatbelt through. My daughter absolutely hated this and had a major tantrum when I kept trying to get her to sit still long enough to fit the thing. The stage 3 seat was no good as the seatbelt cut across her neck. As it stands therefore I cannot buy the car (the wife insits we all have to fit in), but I am sure others will have had this issue and undoubtedly other manufacturers seats will fit in too - I just don't know which ones.

Can anyone help? I really want to buy this car (my first 911), but can't until I find a seat that works.

Many thanks,
Gixxer

Think Recaro make one, I've got a Britax Trio, but I'm not sure the latest version fits.

Speak to Quick fit. The specialise in seat belts and child seats. They are based in Stanmore North west London and are well versed in Porsches. Tell them Henry from 911virgin sent you and they`ll treat you like a King (or Queen).

Hope that helps.

You can also get fabric triangles which attach to the belt with poppers and hold the cross strap down so it does not cut across the childs neck. Halfords or anywhere like them have them for a few pounds. I used a booster cushion (no bak) with one of these for our yungest from when he was 2 and a half in the turbo and it was fine.

Give a cookie when she sits still in the stage 2 seat?

Or if you're not into bribery - throw a tantrum of your own when she doesn't sit still

Can't help you with another type of seat but I did initially have the same problem with my two year old and the Porsche seat in the back of a 993. She has got used to it very quickly as you can use the large block to place toys and sweets on.

Good luck.

Thanks for the replies folks. Having now been able to search previous posts is seems the Mamas & Papas Pro-tec seat could be the one. I'm heading back up to my local dealer today to take the car down to a nearby baby store to fit it. Has anyone had a bad experience of the Pro-tec seat?

Thanks,
Gixxer

top tip this, I got it from here. get the OPc to remove the rear seat back rest. this allows the child seat go further back but even better it also lets it recline a bit more thus removeing the far to upright sitting position.

removing the seat back is a 2 minute job, 2 allen bolts thats it.

Beleave be I was amazed at the diffrence it mate for my 3 year old, my misses now even wants us to take porsche when we all go out now..

try it it will cost nothing, and if you dont like it like that( I very much doubt ) just get them to put it back. It may allow you to get the car you want..

Top tip jonny996. I'll get them to do it tomorrow.

Thanks,
