Can anybody tell me the precise width of a 997 *including* mirrors?
The widths specified by Porsche are 1808 and 1852mm (C2 and C4) - but these are apparently without the door mirrors. None of the Porsche information I have looked at seems to give the dimensions including the mirrors. I understand that, when folded in, the mirrors do not extend out as far as the rear wheel arches - but I would like to check whether they are in fact the widest point on the car when in the normal position (and, if they are, by how much).
Thanks!

Hi
Look in your drivers manual....its in my 928 one...under "Dimensions" mine is 1836 mm...which is a fraction over 6 ft...which makes it a tad awkward to get through those 6 ft gaps in speed restricted roads....and the people behind me just love it when I have to do a 3 point turn or reverse out
All the best Brett

I've checked the 997 GT3 manual - not there. Also checked the 140 page booklets for the 997, the 997 GT3 and the one for the 97TT - not in any of those, either. It used to be in the 993 instruction book. I guess Porsche don't figure anyone's bothered any more. Someone needs to measure how much of their 997 mirrors protrude past the rear haunches, and that can then be added to the figure the OP already has.
Thanks for the quick replies! (And thanks in particular for checking the three manuals, loach.) Unfortunately, as loach says, the driver's manual only seems to have the figures "without door mirrors".
The reason I am asking is that I want to be quite certain that a 997 would fit in my garage - ideally, without having to manually fold in one or both of the mirrors in order to be able to drive in.
One fact I do have (from the Reading OPC) is that the mirrors can be folded in to the width of the body at the rear. So, I suppose another way to determine the mirror-to-mirror width would be to add the "without mirrors" width (1808 or 1852mm) to twice the approximate extra distance by which a mirror protrudes than it does when folded in. If any of you with a 997 could give an estimate of that (i.e. the difference between folded in and out), I'd be most grateful.

The trick with folding the mirrors manually will not work. They are designed to move back into the original position once you stop pushing them. At least that's what they do on mine. Just looking at the car I reccon that the mirrors will add somewhat to the overall width (on a C2S but might be different on a C4)...
Gat a cloth tape rule before your next visit to the OPC, then you can be sure. My 996 fits in a single garage with about 1 1/2" to spare each side. I can get in/out but it's a bit of a squeeze.
Top tip, carpet the garage wall before you bring the car home if you go for it, that way you won't mark the door getting in and out!

Many thanks indeed to those of you who made further suggestions.
The good news is that I now have a figure for the width - including mirrors - from the Reading OPC (who were most helpful): 1937mm. So far as I can tell, this is not specified anywhere in any of the generally available Porsche documentation.
The reason that this is good news for me is that this means it will comfortably fit through my garage door; my (decidedly old) Merc E-class, which is 1980mm mirror-to-mirror, just fits through, with about an inch to spare on each side. It is only the door itself that was the concern; the garge is much wider inside.
Thanks again!
