HI to everyone, I'm new to Piston-heads and was made aware of your selves buy a guy with a TVR Griffith 500 on a track day I attended at donnington one evening a few months ago.
At the aforementioned track day (my first one with this car) I experienced a few problems with my tyres going off (overheating) after initially only 4 laps, then after resetting the tyre pressures when hot to the factory recommended settings (36f/44r) this point of going off was extended to approximately 7 laps, I will add that the tyres I have on the car are Goodyear eagle F1 and that the car is totally standard and it was a very hot day.
My questions are; Is it possible to improve the performance of the fitted tyres with adjustment of the pressures or should I save these for wet conditions and get some proper rubber all advice will be a help.

The Eagle F1 is not a brilliant tyre by any means but it is not that bad, you should try dropping the tyre pressures by another 3psi front and rear and try it, then drop another 3psi and try it again until you feel the balance of the car return, although I would not recommend starting with any less than 25psi front and 30psi rear when cold.

Dont forget to have the car wheel aligned correctly as well, this will have a big influence on tyre heat on track.

imho with standard 16" wheels & tyre sizes, the C2 seems to work best on track with around 34f/38r hot psi.

Depends if you're on 16" or 17" wheels. If 17" then 36psi front and rear is ideal, and if they increase beyond this on track, then you should bleed air out to keep them at 36psi when hot. Over about 45psi the back ends moves around a lot.

I think the 16" wheels are something like 36 front 44 rear, in which case again you shouldn't let them go above this when hot.

964s are very sensitive to tyres and pressures!

TBh if you drive anything like hard with standard suspension it's going to eat tyres and they'll overheat. Proper track tyres will help as would a suitable alignment but the amount of body roll means wear will be an issue never the less.
