do you mean www.specialistcarsgb.co.uk ? If so, they do a very strange finance deal - "Put down a £30,000 deposit now and pay £-122 a month over a 5 year plan with a finance package. Please note this is a guide price and may not be exact."

As seen here www.specialistcarsgb.co.uk/car.php?car=529

Lovely 996 though!

I was there recently to have a look at different colours on various cars to see how they looked in the flesh. This was to help decide whether i was going to get a special order colour for my new one. The salesman was dead friendly until i mentioned why i was there. He suddenly completely lost interest and basically walked away from me to do 'other things' like tidy up - there was no one else in the showroom as i'd waited till last.
I approached him a few minutes later to say how much i liked the cobalt blue 993 cab to which he replied it was Iris blue not cobalt.
I then pointed to another 993 in Iris (quite a bit darker than cobalt) to say that was Iris and the cab was cobalt.
"Even a blind man can tell those two cars are the same colour"!! Was his rude reply. With that i left.

I will never recommend specialist cars of malton to anyone again. So what if i only went to look at their cars and was not buying. I may have gone to the next months Porsche meet saying...Wow great place, good cars etc. But now they can SOD OFF furious

Phil, you dont say what you do on your profile, but if you can generate the funds for a new 997gt3 then you probably have a good business head on you and you probably don't give of your time for free. The Malton man was working too, and I doubt if his boss would have been happy about him sharing your indulgence for free Porsche porn

True, but that doesn't mean that he should have been rude to him. He could have said "Please feel free to have a look around" and left to do some other work. Politeness doesn't cost anything

Of course one incident posted on the internet can never be seen as a company's lot but if I was his boss and he spoke to any of our customers like that I'd have been far less than happy...even if he wasn't a purchasing customer.

Customer service in this country is still diabolical I think...

Ok i've updated my profile. I'm an Accountant working in the motor trade.
I dont necessarily agree with your comments. It doesn't matter what the reason for my visit or whether i was buying or not. The fact is that i could have gone away after a splendid visit and a nice chat and told 20 - 30 Porsche owners at the next club meet that S.C.of M. was a great place with great cars and to try them. No chance now!
Its a bit like turning up at an OPC in scruffy jeans and trainers - who's to know that I may have £100k sat in a bank for a new 997TT. You must treat every customer with respect and with friendliness.

A small difference here is that you had already committed to spend £s. A failing of some businesses is to spot openings from trivia such as being polite to people who don't sound / look right.

I had one such person on the phone today, they didn't know quite what they wanted and could we help - my initial thoughts were 'here we go'. Not one to shun a warm lead (I guess someone walking on your premises is just that) I listened on and took stock of her problem sourcing 30,000 forms with integrated labels which we specialise in.

Pays to be polite, whatever the situation.

i have to agree that this particular garage, is only interested in the monied customers, who they feel are in the market for buying one of their nice, but, overpriced cars.....or overpriced servicing!!!! imho of course.....

I'd have to give a massive thumbs up to Johnny and Co at Malton as well.

I've bought a few cars there, and a few parts. Never had anything but great service from sales and service staff. Even before I bought any cars from them.
